- How much does the 8th grade Washington DC trip cost?
This amount changes yearly. The 2010 trip cost $690. The exact amount is announced in January or February each year. - When should I sign up?
You can sign up as soon as your child is a Liberty Middle School student or August 1st for incoming 6th graders. Enrollment is open throughout the school year. - Can I involve my family and friends?
Yes! When they sign up, simply be sure they have your student’s full legal name and student ID number so that the PTO can track the 2% earnings. - How many fundraiser programs are there?
There are 2 programs:
Scrip Gift Card Program
LMS Magazine Sale in the Fall. This sale is through the school not the PTO and takes place in October. - When is the cut-off date for 8th graders to earn money from the Scrip program?
The January order of the 8th grade year is the last to count towards the child’s Washington DC trip account. - How do I know how much I have accumulated from Scrip purchases for the DC trip?
There are 3 ways:
1. If you place a Scrip order in January or May, you will get an update with your delivery.
2. You can keep copies of all your orders to have an approximate total.
3.The school sends home a letter twice during the 8th grade year to the parents. You will get updates in the Fall with the 6th and 7th grade accumulated totals and a final letter in February or March with all fundraiser totals earned. - Why are orders for gift cards only once a month?
The program needed to be simplified because orders twice a month became very hard with such a short turnaround. Parents would also say it was difficult to remember all the dates. Most parents were only ordering once a month. - When are the Scrip orders due and delivered?
In general, orders are due the first Thursday of the month and delivered the third Friday. Please refer to the ordering instructions for exact dates. - Why do I need the student ID number?
This number allows the PTO to track your DC earnings along with the student’s full legal name. - Why do I need to sign the Scrip Order Delivery Form?
Your signature on the form is only needed if you want to allow your child to pick-up your order on your behalf. Your signature shows that you understand the PTO is not responsible for orders that may become lost after a child has picked them up. Your child will need to sign for your order at the time of pick-up to be sure the order has exchanged hands. - Can I pay my department store credit card bill with gift cards and/or use gift cards to pay my bill online?
Some stores will let you. Since businesses have their own policies, we suggest you contact the store to determine their policy for the payment of credit cards bills with gift cards. - Are the earnings transferable in the Olentangy School District if we get redistricted to another middle school in the district?
Yes, they are. Funds can be transferred to the next Olentangy middle school your child has been redistricted to when the student is in the 8th grade AND only if the student goes on the DC trip. You need to let your Scrip coordinator at your new school know that you are earning at LMS. They will let you know how to change to the new school. - Can I take the earnings of the DC trip with me if we move out of state? No. Are the earnings transferable to other school districts in Ohio?
No. This is an OLMS PTO fundraiser in Powell, Ohio and is non-transferable anywhere out of the school district. The earnings you have accumulated will go into either the LMS Caring Fund or help offset the costs of the DC trip. - Can I transfer my funds to another child at LMS if we move out of the district?
No. The earnings will go into either the LMS Caring Fund or help offset the costs of the DC trip. - I have more than one child that attends LMS. How do I include them on these programs?
For recordkeeping, you can only put one child on the Scrip program at a time. If you accumulate enough for one child, you can change your election, but please be sure to let the coordinator know. In addition we also have the magazine sale fundraiser in the fall. Perhaps one child can be listed on the Scrip program and another on the magazine sale. - Can I sign up my elementary child for the Scrip program at LMS?
No. This program is for LMS students only. Incoming 6th graders can sign up August 1st. - Can Neighborhood Contacts carry gift cards and sell them in their neighborhoods?
No, because of the 2% tracking, it is too cumbersome to manage. - Can I use my credit card when ordering Scrip? Can I pay by check?
No. The only way to purchase Scrip for our program is through the GLSC Presto Pay option. - I manage a business which sells gift cards. Can the Scrip program sell my cards to the parents at LMS?
Although we would like to include everyone, we only participate in the Great Lakes Scrip Company (GLSC) program. At this time, we do not wish to take on the burden of advertising sales, picking up orders, processing payments, and tracking separate 2% earnings.
